This erotic poem, composed on 8/3/2015, dignifies
the glory of Khajuraho temples singing the song of art, devotion and sexuality.
“Sexuality in religious
thought and expression has often been subsumed by the more abstract theme of
love. So what do we mean by erotica? It is distinct from love, passion and
lust. Erotica means that which leads to Kama or the sexual act; it is not in
itself a straight sexual act. The erotic art at Khajuraho is considered to be
the pinnacle of love and passion.”

Erotic Art
Art
and poesy
Where are thou?
O! Art and poesy
Scattered in the antique sculptures
And the earliest scriptures
Faded away with time
The beauty of ancient rhymes
The erotic sense of khajuraho
Still sings the music
Of tradition, truth and beauty
Whether it lies in the sexuality.
The nude nymphs dancing on the
walls
Fascinate the humans all
As with broad breast and large hip
They enticed the attention of gods
Making the course with different
pose
As Shiva clinch the Shakti’s waist
To hold her closer his chest
Feeling the moments blessed
In which the divinity expressed
On the walls of erotic sense.
But Alas! All is fled away
Only lust has make its way
Without emotion they mingled
And breathlessly they singled
Without arising any erotic sense
They did the course dispense
How they can sing the song of
spirituality
While they grasp the life
superficially
Deprived of Art and culture
The land has become of vultures.
